Looking for some ideas for your spring wedding flowers? We absolutely love working with brides and grooms to create the floral visions they’ve had for their wedding day in Sydney. There are so many fun themes to choose from – including selecting blooms in pretty pastels, creating style with natural bouquets and providing a spring flower as a favour, tucked into each guest’s napkin.

One of our favourite themes is a garden inspired wedding ad we had the pleasure of helping Anna’s dreams come true for her spring wedding. Here is the story:

The Spring Wedding Flowers Theme - Garden

Anna absolutely loves flowers and was very keen on a garden theme. She really wanted it to look like the flowers had just been gathered up from a garden and brought to her wedding. Anna also wanted to pay homage to her grandmother who had always grown the most delightful flowers in her garden. In turn, Anna grew ranunculi on her balcony from bulbs in honour of her gran.

Creating the Vision

When we first met with Anna and Nicholas, we brainstormed ideas and then presented them with a garden themed wedding full of pinks, whites and greens. They loved it!

In the lead up to the wedding, we coordinated ordering flowers from the growers and picking up others from the Sydney Flower Markets. We then set about creating the arrangements for the church and reception, as well as the bridal party’s bouquets, lapels and floral crowns. On the day, we set out like floral ninjas to create the garden theme in the church and at the reception at The Deckhouse in Woolwich. It was a big logistic task, but we were so excited for Anna to see her vision come to life.

The Church Flowers

The church was filled with seasonal white blooms – roses, oriental lilies, disbud chrysanthemums, carnations and ferns – in large arrangements that provided the setting for the very special ceremony.

The Bridal Party’s Flowers

We loved creating the bridal party’s bouquets, lapels and floral crowns. So often, it’s the smallest touches that really tie together and complete the theme. Anna requested peonies and ranunculi in her bouquet and she was keen for it to have some fragrance. On the day, we presented her, and the bridesmaids, with natural bouquets of peonies, fragrant roses, carnations, wax and ranunculi. We had spoken before the wedding about the ranunculi and she knew we may not be able to source it. However, we were just thrilled to be able to surprise her with them on the day.

Nicholas chose carnations for the boys’ lapels and the flower girls and bridesmaids also wore floral crowns. They received so many compliments for them and we relished delicately creating them with pink and white spray roses.

The Reception

The Deckhouse in Woolwich, Sydney is such a gorgeous venue – by the harbour, filled with natural light and surrounded by lush trees that are lit as it gets dark. The Bridal Table featured a long table runner arrangement of garden roses and peonies with trailing vine, fern and greenery – all seasonal and reflecting the white and green garden theme.

For the table arrangements, we filled sets of glass vases with the same white flowers as Anna’s bouquet. This tied the garden theme through perfectly and meant each table had a beautiful floral fragrance too. Each guest's place card was tied to a white rose and placed on their plate. We topped the wedding cake with delicate white and pale pink peonies and surrounded it with scattered garden roses and an arch of greenery.

How did the Bride and Groom feel?

It’s safe to say, Anna and Nicholas loved the flowers. They sent a heartfelt thank you to us and felt we played a huge role in beautifying the wedding and creating the garden theme Anna had wanted.
