Flowers for Lane Cove - a surprise flower delivery or two...!

Delivering surprise flowers to our Lane Cove community!

We were delighted to celebrate 20 years as a boutique florist in Lane Cove.

Our aim was to surprise and deliver 20 floral bouquets to the 20 most valued local organisations - fresh, beautiful flowers for Lane Cove not-for-profit organisations! We decided to mark this milestone by giving back to our community.

Pure flowers customers and In The Cove followers were asked to nominate their favourite not-for-profits in the Lane Cove Council area.

20 bouquets to celebrate 20 years in Lane Cove

Plenty of nominations were submitted for your favourite non-for-profit organisations. The most popular were Lane Cove Library and Lane Cove and Northside Community Services. Nursing homes, schools, support services and hospitals were highly valued too.

The pure flowers team designed and gift wrapped a swag of native bouquets. We loaded the van and set off on a sunny Monday afternoon. However, the first four deliveries were on foot – the benefit of being located in the heart of leafy-green Lane Cove.

Visits began with Lane Cove Library, Lane Cove and Northside Community Services, Lane Cove and Northside Community Services Food Services and the Early Childhood Centre. We well and truly surprised so many people – the smiles were from ear to ear!

We then visited Greenwich Hospital, nursing homes and a support group. We were thrilled to be brightening these places with our native bouquets and to be able to say “thank you” for their tireless efforts for our community.

Each bouquet was created from Australian wildflowers and included natives that adorn many gardens and nature strips around our area. The flowers were sourced with the help and donation of Lane Cove Council and ourselves.

As students return from holidays next week, we plan to deliver a few more surprise flowers to Lane Cove schools to in October.

20th Anniversary party – pure flowers in Lane Cove

The pure flowers team - Ludmila, Elen and Fran, wanted to share our special occasion with our clients, local businesses and friends. We held a celebration with “cupcakes and punch” and were pleased to see so many of our friends join us and to receive numerous messages of “Congratulations” marking 20 years of creating flowers in Lane Cove.

A new highly popular burnt butter cupcake recipe from Nigella was tried out by Elen, I learnt how to create an amazing sangria and our team had a lot of fun in creating a party space in our store. It was a very special night - one we will remember for years to come.

A little bit of history…

Originally opening in 1995, second only to Bakers Delight in the Central Plaza Arcade, we were named Ellen’s Flowers by Design, after the original owner. Our second owner, Theresa, rebranded our store to Pure Flowers before Elen and I bought the business four years ago. We left our corporate careers to do what we love – brightening peoples’ faces with gorgeous floral designs.

We’re delighted to have had the community’s support for 20 years to enable us to become part of the in the Lane Cove shopping scene and hope to be there for our clients for many more years to come.

Over to you

I’d love to hear what you think about how we can better acknowledge our community groups for the great work they do.

I hope to see you soon instore, Ludmila
